First Strategic Doing Meeting Yields Results


Around fifty Jewell County residents, from all communities in the county were part of an initial Strategic Doing Meeting in June.  Results from this meeting are in and volunteers are being sought to start carrying out this work in the County.  If you are passionate about one of these areas, or if you just care about Jewell County’s future, you are encouraged to attend the second Strategic Doing meeting on July 24th at 6:00 p.m. at the Mankato City Office, 217 South High Street in Mankato.


Results from the brainstorming activity in the first Strategic Doing meeting were divided out into the categories of Healthy Living, Entertainment/Arts/Culture, Promotion, Human Needs, Housing, Youth, Population Growth, City/County Government, and Economic Development.  Possible projects include trails, fitness centers, park improvements, live entertainment, tourism, assisted living, addressing abandoned buildings, downtown improvement projects, youth activities, day care, infrastructure improvements, enhanced law enforcement presence, retirement succession planning, new markets for business/agriculture, community leadership training, and wealth retention.


All Jewell County organizations and non-profits are encouraged to attend.  Projects identified through these meetings will be considered for PRIORITY status in Dane G. Hansen funding.


If you are a part of any of these groups in the County, your presence is requested at the meeting:Community Foundation board and donors, Chamber members, Extension agents, Small business owners, Large business owners, Farmers, ranchers, producers, Elected officials – city and county, Clergy, Librarian, School superintendent/principals, Residents of each community in county, Retired persons, Young professionals, Community leaders/volunteers, Nonprofit directors, Health officials – county health, hospital, medical staff, High school students, Stay at home moms, Persons who work from their home, Entrepreneurs, and Anyone who has an interest in the future of Jewell County.
